The castle or palace was a set done with a real building- as trick Photography in that period would not do. ( characters were walking about) It was basically a stone building, had a divided anteroom or vestibule in front- and let"s face it take away the special effects, smoke screens and so on- it did resemble a CHURCH building. The doorman or guard character ( not the Wizard) had a costume that seemed to suggest that of a Bishop- some guys thought he looked like Saint Patrick- obviously Green uniform and mitre-like hat! very strange. Having to compare it to any real life structure it most resembled- a church edifice.
