The Karakum Desert is in Turmenistan, in Central Asia east of the Caspian Sea.
During the summer (May-September) it gets very hot during the day, but can still get very cold at night, like most deserts. The rocks will hold some heat, but there is not much moisture in the air, so much of the surface heat radiates away once the Sun goes down.
During the winter, it is mild to cold most of the time.
