Many of the resources they used came from the buffalo.
They used every part of it:
The hide, fat,brain,horn, skull, teeth, beard,hair, hoof, muscles (sinews), meat, stomach, ribs,bones, bladder, tail and manure. These things were used for everything from their outside of their house(hide) to necklaces(teeth)) to waterproof bags(bladder) they even used the tail as a fly swatter.

We could take some lessons from them on how to care for our environment. They understood that the environment was a part of them and kept them alive.

Once horses were introduced, they walked, rode horses, and used the horses to haul their belongings on a travois.

The Cheyenne Indians used buffalo skin to make clothes, tepees and other things
The Sioux Tribes were best known for Masteres of horse back riding. When the Conquistadores came to North America battles were fought again the invading Spaniards, hores were used in battles and the horses that were left behind by the retreating Spaniard army gave the Sioux tribes the knowleage to master this skill of hores back riding
This was not a weapon the Sioux used.
The Sioux Indians did not get cotton until they began trading with European traders, and then it was usually in the form of clothing. Before that, the Sioux used animal skins and leather for clothing.

The Sioux were opportunistic hunter gatherers, like most other Native American tribes. To translate, they ate what they could hunt, catch, farm or pick - Buffalo, Elk, Deer, Cherries and potatoes just to name a few. The Sioux Indians used to eat the buffalo that the men hunted and the women cooked over a fire. All parts of the buffalo were used: None was wasted. A buffalo tongue was a delicacy for the Sioux Indians.
