Missouri has produced some fabulous minerals from underground lead-zinc mines, but these are pretty much closed at the moment. I'd suggest joining a local gem and mineral club, or consulting the local geology department at a museum or university. Or buy "The Common Rocks and Minerals of Missouri " by WD Keller.
I am quite sure that there are a number of minerals that do not occur at all in Missouri. For example troilite, an iron sulfide which is almost exclusively found in meteorites. Or the mineral ferruccite, which has been described only from the volcanoe Mount Vesuvius in Italy so far.
