Britain used to occupy India, similar to how it once occupied the United States of America, except when India became independent, the inhabitants remained mostly native Indians; not immigrants, like modern Americans.
One thing to share about India is that it was once an island.
once upon a time, India was the richest country in the world. as the people around the world came to know about its richness and wealth, they come and invaded the country. as the people and kings of India were so generous, they allowed everyone to enter their country. they purchased and took all the richness from India to their countries. this was how India became poor.
Bangladesh, Pakistan and India are all separate countries with their own distinct identities but all have similar roots. Bangladesh was once part of India People who think of Bangladesh as part of India simply do not have sufficient knowledge of the region. They are likely to be from other parts of the world and not everyone can be expected to know everything about everything. Lack of knowledge can be forgiven.
These are modern India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Pakistan and Bangladesh did not exist at all under British rule, and Sri Lanka was known as Ceylon.
Pakistan was once a part of British India. During the Partition in 1947, India and Pakistan were split into their current countries.
