Well, Norway only participated in one war during this period, a brief one with Sweden in the early 1800s. we only had 30 000 men, so the war was not high profiled, and the first pictures of uniforms are form the 1860s. They were simple, and buttoned up. Some pictures can be found at:

Most of the pictures are not of norwegian uniforms from the 1800s, but on page 3 (content) you can see the uniform from the 1860s in the corner. colour isn't mentioned(and the pictures black and white), but they are black, blue or darker green i would assume.

The US wasnt too far advanced yet in the early 1800s. Most of the advancements in the early 1800s like anaestesia, and antiseptic surgery were done by Englishmen and other advancements like germ theory was put forth by the frenchman Louis Pasteur.
