Maximilien Robespierre was a law student (a very good one). He worked as a criminal judge and eventually became a successful advocate and chose overwhelmingly to represent the poor. During court hearings he was known to often advocate the ideas of the Enlightenment and argue for the rights of his clients. Later in his career he also became interested in literature and society and came to be regarded as one of the best writers and well-liked young men of Arras. When King Louis XVI later announced new elections for all provinces, this allowed Robespierre to run for the position of deputy for the Third Estate
He was its creator, inspiration and leader. His death at the guillotine also ended it.

Robespierre (the leader of the Jacobins) was the last to be executed, ending the Reign of terror. He was faced upwards in the guillotine, because that was thought to be fair punishment for him since he had sent so many others to the guillotine.
The person who inaugurated the Reign of Terror during the French revolution was Maximillian Robespierre of the Jacobins.
