The Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion are the three traveling companions to Dorothy Gale and her pet dog Toto in the beautiful, enchanted, magical lands of "The Wizard of Oz."Specifically, Dorothy and Toto end up in Oz after their house is uprooted during a tornado in their home state of Kansas. Friendly Munchkins and a good witch tell the two accidental visitors to follow the Yellow Brick to the Emerald Palace of the Wizard of Oz in order to find a way back home. Dorothy Gale, her pet dog Toto, the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion travel from the Blue Munchkin Country in the East to the Emerald City in the Center of the lands of Oz. Then they travel from the Emerald City to the Yellow Castle of the Winkie Country in the West, and back. And then they travel from the Emerald City to the Red Castle of Glinda the Good Witch of the South, in the Quadling Country.
A crane saved the Scarecrow when he got stuck on a pole in the river on the way to the Emerald City.
It is by the Winged Monkeys that Dorothy and her friends return to the Emerald City in "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."Specifically, there is no sure travel between the Emerald City and Wicked Witch of the West's palace in the Yellow Country of the Winkies in western Oz. But she has the Golden Cap by which she can call the Winged Monkeys. The monkeys arrive and carry the five friends back to the Emerald City.
Dorothy said would he go with her to see the oz so he can give him a brain.

Dorothy and Toto have to travel to the Emerald City in order to find a way back home to Kansas. In the process, they meet up with the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman, who become the two earthlings' traveling companions in Oz.
The songs 'Follow the Yellow Brick Road' and 'We're Off to See the Wizard' are what Dorothy Gale sings on her way to the Emerald City in the beloved 1939 film version of 'The Wizard of Oz'. The Yellow Brick Road leads her to the Emerald City, where the Wizard lives in his Emerald Palace. The Wizard needs to be seen, in order for Dorothy and her pet dog Toto to be able to get back home to Kansas.
