India was a colony of Britain, much like the US was. They were tired of being treated like they were worth less than others, and of having foreign rulers decide the laws, taxes, and other such things, much like the US. However, unlike the US, they did not have a revolutionary war. Instead, Gandhi led passive aggressive protests and marches, all peacefully. He led to India gaining it's freedom, and is one of the most revolutionary figures in history, and was the inspiration for Dr Martin Luther King, Jr's own revolutionary ways.
