George Armstrong Custer was armed with two British Bulldog pistols for his personal sidearms and also carried a Remington long range hunting rifle across his saddle pommel. After the fighting ended at last stand hill the Indians stripped and mulitated the dead, taking EVERYTHING. Few documented U.S. cavalry weapons from Custer's five companys survive today. Your question supposes that swords were carried by the 7th cavalry at the Little Bighorn, which is a false assumption.

The troops were ordered to hand in their Model 1860 Light Cavalry Sabres before setting out and these were boxed for storage - only one officer kept his sabre: Lt De Rudio, and he did not use it during the battle.

If Lt Colonel Custer had any presentation sabres that he valued, he would have left these with his wife, who no doubt kept them herself after his death.

Sabres had been used by the US cavalry earlier in the Indian Wars, when most native warriors relied on clubs and other close-quarter weapons; by 1876 a huge number of firearms of many kinds were in the hands of the Lakotas, so carrying sabres offered no kind of advantage to the soldiers. - hence the order for them to be put into storage.
