THE REAL ANSWER by iloveytaylautner: orbs are spectrums of energy manifesting in one area. (AKA energy being taken from the air and made into a bubble- it happens with the molecules. It also makes lightning.) Or they can be a dust particle or bug only seen being outlined from that spectrum. People like to think of them as ghosts but scientifically they aren't.
