Do a search through one of these video search engines or use a search engine, for example Google.com and type in the search box "Video directory" or "online tv directory" and the best sites to use will be listed on the first page usually. A video search engine is a web-based search engine which crawls the web for video content. Some video search engines parse externally hosted content while others allow content to be uploaded and hosted on their own servers. Some engines also allow users to search by video format type and by length of the clip. Search results are usually accompanied by a thumbnail view of the video. AltaVista Video Search had one of the first video search engines with easy accessible use. Is found on a direct link called "Video" off the main page above the text block. blinkx was launched in 2004 and uses speech recognition and visual analysis to process spidered video rather than rely on metadata alone. blinkx claims to have the largest archive of video on the web and puts its collection at around 14,000,000 hours of content. Truveo is a Web-wide video search engine that was founded in 2004 and launched in September 2005. Truveo claims to index over 100 million videos from thousands of sources across the Web YouTube was created in February 2005, as a 'consumer media company' for people to search for, watch and share original videos worldwide through the internet. It was bought by Google in October 2006. Youtube and Google video search only themselves, though they each have a very large index of video.

If you want to grab a video off the net and have it on your desktop without streaming it. Its impossible. But if you want to find a website that allows you to download videos. Don't try looking for the actuly thing. Search for file sharers. Eg. Blubster and Limewire. But try and find something that does more then just songs.

Hope it helps Phil
