"While the Anaconda is not venomous, it does have many razor sharp teeth which all point backwards towards the stomach. This makes it very difficult for prey to escape.

Similarly, a special feature in the design of fish hooks is the barb. This is the sharp protrusion along the main hook which points in the opposite direction.

Just as it is very difficult for a fish to wiggle free from a hook (due to the barb), it's even more difficult to pull free from the jaws of the anaconda since there are many "barbs" hooking the flesh. The movement of the unfortunate prey as it tries to get loose only serves as a means of driving itself deeper into the mouth of the snake.
