The main idea of the novel The Outsiders is that no matter what your background all people are equal and no one should be thought of as above any others. Money and social stadings should not be factors when judging a persons character.

You mean like a theme of the story? Well i came up with " violence doesn't solve anything", "Friends and families are important in a relationship" and "Every human being is the same, its the property we have that makes us different from other people". The last theme i gave you is good to compare the Socs and the Greasers with their madras shirts and Mustangs.
