Imperialism is the active pursuit of more lands by one specific country, and involves the (usually hostile) takeover of an established nation or culture for purposes that serve the imperialist country.

Globalization is the process by which modern technology and world politics have shifted the global economic order, particularly as it relates to the connection between ownership and production. In other words, because I can communication with India easily via computers and smart phones, I can comfortably move my factory over there, if I happen to own one. I couldn't have done that 30 years ago. Globalization changes America economically, since many low-wage jobs have moved to other countries that have less-strict labor laws. But globalization also changes those other countries economically in the form of jobs and added income.
