The road tunnel to Milford is called the Homer tunnel.
It is in the south of the South Island near Milford Sound.
Milford Sound (Piopiotahi) is the northernmost ofthe Fiordland Sounds in New Zealand and is 15km long. It is a steep walled glacial gouge, with Mitre Peak on the southern flank, and Mount Pembroke on the northern wall. On this wall, Stirling Falls falls of 155m drop directly into the sea.
Fiordland has more than a dozen fiords, though they are all called 'sounds'. e.g. Milford Sound, Sutherland Sound and so on.
Great Britain and France Eurotunnel is the name of the company which owns and operates the Channel Tunnel, as well as other business interests. The Channel Tunnel connects the United Kingdom and France. It runs between Folkestone in Kent and Sangatte near Calais in Pas-de-Calais.
There is an airstrip at Milford Sound itself, suitable for small and medium planes. Otherwise there is a larger airport at Lake Te Anau/Manapouri.

The scenery is rather grand with near vertical mountains rising straight from the sound. If you visit Milford Sound, be sure to take the boat trip out to the mouth of the sound. On the way to Milford, you'll pass through the homer tunnel set amid glacier scraped landscape, then down the Cleddau Valley in which you must pause for a look at the Chasm. There is an excellent visitor terminal at the harbour. I'd recommend taking a bus from Te Anau, so you'll be free to enjoy the scenery. enjoy
