Two astronauts sitting in the same space ship can communicate by mouth ... at least while it's full of air ... or by passing notes. As soon as they put on their space suits, though, or if they feel like talking to anyone on earth or in another spaceship, radio is the only way.

However, they could revert back to "archaic" technologies like sign language or perish the thought semaphore.
