It's not accurate to say that any of them are on the payroll-- political parties in the USA do not own Talk Shows, nor would the FCC permit it. That said, studies have shown repeatedly that more than 95% of radio talk shows are hosted by Republican conservatives, so it probably seems that the hosts are working for the Republicans, when in fact the host is simply presenting (and favoring) one point of view, and it happens to be in line with what Republicans believe.
Further, the Republican party is frequently the source of the host's "talking points" (the topics he or she focuses on), and it influences the way those topics are discussed-- to favor Republican viewpoints and criticize the views of Democrats; the Republican party also provides many of the guests. For whatever reason, Republicans have dominated the talk show medium since the early 1990s. There are some successful and profitable liberal and moderate hosts, but as I said, more than 95% of the radio talk show hosts identify with Republican (and especially conservative Republican)
views and beliefs.
