What should you do if your laundry room is on 2nd floor and a pipe is in the middle of the floor where the washing machine would sit but in the model home the pipe was located in the back corner?

I'd have the builder fix it, assuming the house is new and under warranty. You seem to have a case that the house was not built to the model home spec. If out of warranty, I'd ask the model homeowner to allow you or your plumber to look at his piping system, and see what it would take to fix yours.
