Canada does not have a traditional or national dress as such. In the northern regions, or frankly anywhere it gets cold, Canadians wear parkas, long john's (an undergarment, basically long underwear), tuques (woolen caps), scarves, ear muffs, and various jackets that can be made with down lining or leather. Inuit and other Native Indians have their own highly developed traditional wear that is made of leather skins and furs. Some Canadians own moccasins for use as slippers or around the yard outdoor wear. In the summer most anything goes, Canadians just want to stay cool as it can get quite hot. Stereotypically, Canadians are associated with plaid jackets, or "lumberjack shirts" which are in fact used in the country and by hunters and in more remote regions whose inhabitants are more concerned with staying alive and warm than being fashionable. Traditional clothing includes socks, leggings, ojibwa shirts, trousers, moccasins or boots, gloves, mittens, and parkas.

There are numerous types of Native Canadian dress, however outside that there's a distinctly Canadian traditional costume types. Since Canada stretches the equivalent of the North Pole to the Mediterranean there is a variety of dress, which includes layering, to reflect the climate. The winters maybe mild in some areas, but the summers are generally always hot.

The upper class had clothing of the French court or English court. The lower class clothing was almost always bright (colour of a Hudson Bay coat and plenty of red), dresses were usually above the ankle, additions include aprons, lace, and Elizabethan embroidery. Toques, fur Russian style hats, sashes, Hudson Bay coat, etc. Think late Medieval or early Baroque France. Google Metis clothing.

Canada is a Confederation of many Nations each with many cultures and each of those cultures with their own traditional clothing. As a result there is no traditional Canadian clothing, each family will have their own and that will vary by season and location. If one of those families or cultures tell you they are Canadian to the exclusion of other cultures you can be sure they are not Canadian.

But among many Canadian cultures Blue Jean pants are very traditional dating back many generations, as are garments made or trimmed with leather and fur.
