I would ask you to elaborate on this question. What is the key period you were looking for and between what nations?

I will assume you are asking for Great Britain, the main warmongerers at the time. Well the great marches of the Empire were in full swing. Africa and the Far-East were particularly(China in particular) hot-spots. Aswell as Austraulasia, India and the Middle East. Which were largely unsuccesful in the nations that end with "Stan". The Boer War was perhaps the bloodiest and most remembered war at the time as the Britsh Empire military and the British colonists were in alligiance to defeat the Zulu tribes of North Africa. However, whilst the colonists were mainly concered with repelling the Zulu's and protecting their land, the military was mainly concernered with conquering the tribes. The battle of Rorke's Drift is perhaps the most famous battle in British History before the likes of the Somme, Gallipoli, Dunkirk and Normandy. This was where a small handful of British Soldiers from the Welsh Guards Regiment defended the outpost station against wave upon wave of Zulu warrior's and won. The French were also quite active at the time and had many wars and campaign's.

The Spanish had died down considerably by this point and the Americans were the newcomers and rarely fought anybody outside of their own lands as they would have likely lost against any of the big players. There was also a bit of action in the Japanese Empire as the modern Japanese parlaiment fought with the feudal warrior's (the Samurai) for control of the islands. However this was majorly overlooked and when evaluted was over exagerated. Especially in the Tom Cruise picture The Last Samurai. Which could'NT have been more historically inaccurate if Kangaroo's came into the shot and began to box with the soldier's.
