The climate in the North is extremely cold in the winter average temp. -30C with very short summers around 15C-20C these summers last about 1 to 2 months then it is back to winter, no fall to speak of and very little spring.

It was very cold and covered with snow. The temperatures can get to -50 degrees, they need furs to stay warm and to not freeze to death. They lived in very harsh conditions.
