When do you need to convert the voltage for appliances?

You need to convert the voltage if your appliance requires less voltage than you power supply. example: appliances is 110V and power supply is 220V.

You bought some electronics in China which requires 220v In that case can you use these devices in Canada which uses 110v without getting a voltage converter to convert from 220v to 110v.?

No.. you can't... You will actually be damaging your instrument.. It is highly recommended that you use voltage converter... I think it is not too costly

What is the ac voltage in America?

110v

What is the usual voltage of a treadmill?

110V

Can you use any 220 volt adaptor on a 110 volt appliance?

No. 220V adaptor can't control the output voltage, 110V appliance will be fry. Use instrument transformer or voltage regulator instead.

What electricity voltage is used in Las Vegas?

110V

Why is 110v televisoin set damage when plugged into a 220v source?

Because it is designed for 120 volts. Internal voltages and current derived from the supply voltage are out of specification and will likely cause failed components that are not compatible with the higher voltage.

Why 220v and 110v was chosen as standard voltage in Brazil and not some other voltage?

220v and 110v are almost the only voltages used around the world because they are the most efficient.

What resistance using to reduce the volt from 230 to 110 by using?

For a 110v appliance to be run from a 230 v supply, a resistor is not the solution because the appliance is designed to run on a constant-voltage low-resistance supply. Depending on the power requirement, transformers can be found to convert the voltage correctly.

Can 240v coil contactor be connected to 110v supply?

no

Can the 12 GB PlayStation 3 console work on either 110V or 220V?

If there is a switch on the power supply that allows you to switch between the two voltages then the answer is yes. If there is no switch then you will need to use a travel voltage adapter to convert one voltage to the other.

What is the theory of operation of voltage transformer?

A voltage transformer (VT) is used on alternating current (AC) systems to provide a standardised equivalent or representatative voltage compared to that of a higher voltage (HV) primary system. At low voltage, e.g. the household 400/230v power supply systems, it is safe and simple enough to measure the voltage directly with a voltmeter or other instrument requiring the voltage information. At high voltages, e.g. greater than 1000v, it is no longer safe to do a direct measurement, thus voltage transformers are used to provide isolation from the high voltage and give a secondary output proportional to the high voltage. For example, an 11kV supply system will typically use an 11kV / 110v voltage transformer to give secondary voltage of 110v which is 100 times smaller than the supply voltage. (the complexity of three phase systems is not covered here) By measuring this secondary VT voltage and multiplying by 100, a person will have the value of the 11kV supply voltage. Transformers all have errors/losses, including VTs, thus the VT is specifically designed to international standards, such as IEC 60044, to provide a small but acceptable error of measurement. The design allows for a small measurement load and is not intened to supply power to large loads. A: Its function is to modify the input to some other output to be useful minus quite of bit of power loss at full load. I also provide isolation from the source and can provide impedance matching for maximum power transfer
