He is thought to have been 35 when Kit Carson attacked his family in 1863. That would make his birth year 1828 but that should be though of as only approximate. He died in 1912 in Monument Valley, where he lived with his family. However another source I've seen says he died in 1909. That means he was in his 80's when he died which looks about right from his photos. He is said to have had 12 wives. His son was Hoskinini Begay (which means son of Hoskinini). He was 5 in 1863.
