The Biblical St. Thomas or (Doubting Thomas) obviously died in the Holy Land ( Israel or the Middle East) You may be thinking of Saint Francis Xavier one of the early Jesuit Missionaries, not Thomas. I do know Jersey City had a mayor named Thomas F.X. Smith ( Francis Xavier) but these are two different saints! ( Thomas an Xavier() it"s academic- pun intended.
