It was done as a live action Broadway show- with of all people Mary Martin in the title role, and a Disney Cartoon Film. Disney did NOT create the character of Peter Pan, which was writted by Sir James Barrie circa l904. Other appropriated Disney characters ( real authors in parentheses) include Mary Poppins ( P.L. Travers), Winnie the Pooh ( A.A. Milne) Wind in the Willows characters by an English author Kenneth Grahame. and some others. Disney DID originate the Mckey Mouse cartoons, of course.
