I am sure those of you reading this page would have more or less known something about the lost island/continent of Atlantis, and have different perspectives about the existence of it. If you think that Atlantis ever existed: 1) Atlantis is the missing piece of land between North America and Western Europe in the theory of Pangaea. 2) There are many pieces of evidences (e.g. Pictures of a city claiming to be Atlantis...) posted on the Net. 3) The descriptions of it are so attractive you have no choice but to believe it. 4) Your ancestors are Atlanteans! If you think that Atlantis NEVER existed: 1) You simply do not believe in myths. 2) The area of Atlantis was too big to be fitted into the North Atlantic Ocean... 3) Atlantis, a big landmass, could not have just sunk overnight despite the number of natural disasters that occurred there. 4) There is lack of evidence and you are not convinced. 5) There are too many different pieces of evidence on the Net you do not know which one to believe in. 6) Plato's description (the advanced technology at that time, the amount of riches...) are simply too difficult to believe. You are all kindly requested to revisit Plato. Atlantis did exist and part of its remainings are the Azores islands. The disaster was of human activity [nuclear war?] 15.000 years ago

Plato wrote about this in 448 BC.

Many people believe that the historical basis for the Atlantis myth was the Minoan Civilization on the island of Thera in the Mediterranean (now called Santorini).
The Minoan eruption is a key marker for the Bronze Age chronology of the Eastern Mediterranean world.
The Island exploded in a huge volcanic eruption that destroyed the Minoan civilization across the whole Mediterranean somewhere between 1627 BCE and 1600 BCE.
