Who discover cell phone?

I doubt that anybody "discovered" the cell-phone, but Doctor Martin Cooper invented it.

The 'cell-phone' is not a new idea. The concept was around from the 1940's. The difficulties wereminiaturizing the system and building the network of base stations needed to support it.

Motorola and Dr Martin Cooper did indeed produce a handheld mobile device - but there was no financial incentive to produce a national network to support it, and the idea largely failed, as had happened with the car mobile phones developed in the 1940's.

Without the network infrastructure the concept could not develop.

The breakthrough in the development of the mobile phone system was when the Scandinavian countries - Finland, Norway and Sweden provided public funding for what was intially a non-viable commercial venture. Japan followed.

Other European countries rapidly saw the advantages and using public funding established the Europe wide GSM network structure.

The USA, though technically more advanced, did not have a system of public funding that would enable a national system to built, so it lagged Europe in the adoption of the mobile phone. As a consequence GSM became the dominant system and US designed systems failed to gain market share.

Although many people can claim to have made technical breakthroughs in mobile phone technology, the real 'invention' of the mobile as a useful tool stems from the willingness of the Scandinavian countries to establish a network that initially did not seem to have any financial viability. The dominant position of Nokia in the mobile market stems from that involvement.
