In 293 CE, as a settlement after an extended period of civil war, Diocletian split the Roman Empire into an eastern and western - the eastern capital Constantinople was dedicated in 330 CE. After the demise of the western empire in 476 CE, the Roman Empire lived on as the Eastern Roman Empire, which is also known as the Byzantine Empire. This lasted until the capture of Constantinople by the Turks in 1453. The last emperor of Rome at the time was Constantine XI.

The last emperor of the Western Half of the Roman Empire was one Romulus Augustulus (the name means "little Augustus") who formally abdicated, under the decree of Odoacer on September 4th, in the year 476 C.E.

(see also discussion)

The last Emperor of a UNIFIED Roman Empire was Emperor Theodosius the Great (known for his controversy with St. Ambrose) who reigned over a true, unified empire for the last 3 years of his reign from 392-395. He actually reigned for 17 years and officially, for all intents and purposes, saw to the eventually dissolution of the Western Half of the Empire.

The last Emperor to be crowned by a Pope was Charles V. He was crowned in Bologna by Pope Clement VII in 1530.

Note that the Pope didn't actually crown Napoleon I; Napoleon crowned himself in the presence of the Pope despite what David's famous painting suggests.
