The most influential leaders of the Shawnee people were Tecumseh (Shooting Star) and his brother Tenskwatawa(the Prophet).

The Prophet was a spiritual leader who had many disciples who followed his teachings.

Tecumseh was inspired by his brother to unite all first nations people of North America in an "Indian Confederacy". Their efforts would be to maintain the cultures and historic lands of their people at whatever cost.

Tecumseh was killed while fighting for his dream during the Battle of Moraviantown on October 5, 1813.
