What effect does the series resistance of a capacitor used in a capacitor filter have on diode current and ripple voltage compared with an ideal capacitor of no resistance?

The effective resistance of the capacitor reduces the ripple current through the capacitor making it less effective in its function of smoothing the voltage. But if the capacitor filter is fed by a transformer and diodes, the resistance of the transformer exceeds that of the capacitor.

Regarding Capacitors- can any general capacitor work on a circuit diagram that shows a polarized capacitor or do you need a special capacitor for polarization?

A Polarized capacitor means that the capacitor is polarity sensitive. if you were to connect the capacitor incorrectly the capacitor would blow up. A capacitor that is marked as being polarity sensitive will have the negative lead labeled usually with a white strip. These capacitors can only be used in conjunction with a dc source. Always consult a professional when installing electrical equipment.

What happen to the energy stored in the capacitor while the capacitor is discharging?

It flows out of the capacitor into the external circuit

How one can know that what kind of capacitor to use in circuit?

paper capacitor

Can I check the capacitor value by using analog or multimeter?

You can see if the capacitor charges and discharges with an ohmmeter. You can check the value of the capacitor if the multimeter has the facility. With an ESR meter you can establish the value of the capacitor while in circuit.

Can a motor receive too little power and burn out the start capacitor'?

no

Does a 2 farad capacitor cause surging and lights to flicker?

The capacitor will not cause dimming, whatever it is that the capacitor is being used for (usually helping drive a bass amp) is what causes the dimming. A capacitor is a quick charge and quick discharge battery basically, so when the amp has depleted the power in the cap it still must go to the car battery for power and that is when there will be dimming lights.

Can fireflies burn anything with their lights?

Does a car burn more gasoline when its lights are turned on?

head lights, dome lights, blinkers, any light.... ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

What does a scosche 500k microfarad do?

When the bass hits in your car the headlights will dim if you have enough power. Installing a capacitor (the capacitor stores power and creates a buffer) absorbs this surge and your headlights don't dim. Not unlike a capcitor in your home airconditioner. Without a capacitor, your house lights would dim when it turned on.

Why do cavalier gauge lights go out?

Bulbs simply burn out dumba**!

What has happened when a light bulb has burn out?

it simply means that a wire from the light bulb is joined or connected to the charged plates of the capacitor.resulting to discharged of the capacitor.
