NOT 65 years: 65 MILLION years; and not "after": at. That is, the dinosaurs died out 65 million years AGO, after having been around oh, about 140 million years.

As to why that happened, most probably a massive body from deep space (comet? asteroid?) crashed into Earth and upset the ecological balance so that many types of animals died out.

When dinosars ruled the earth who was next on earth?

The time period of the dinosaurs was called the age of reptiles. This is when reptiles dominated Earth, like dinosaurs, lizards, etc. But when the dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago, most of the reptiles died. this is when mammals took control and started dominating. But humans didnt come out to being until around 4 million years ago.

Why is there no dinosaurs?

There are no dinosaurs because a big metorite hit the earth 65 million years ago. It wiped out 80% of animails, including all dinosaurs.EDIT: One of the biggest misconceptions about dinosaurs is that they are extinct and there are none alive today.THIS IS WRONG. They are NOT extinct.A lot of types of dinosaur went extinct ~65 million years ago: Like the tyrannosaurs, the sauropods, ceratopsians, hadrosaurs. However one group did survive the mass extinction. And if just one group of dinosaurs suvives then technically the group dinosuaria has survivied.Modern day Birds are dinosaurs. Birds are maniraptorian theropod dinosaurs. There are approximately twice as many dinosaur (bird) species alive today than there are mammals! So they are doing quite well actually.

How many years ago was the largest mass extinction?

The most extreme that we are aware of was the Permian Extinction about 252 million years ago, in which 95% of all life was killed. The cause is still unknown, although it is possible that this was an impact event.
