Anakin turned to the dark side because Darth Sidious told Anakin that he had the power to save the ones he loves and that Sidious could teach Anakin This power. So Anakin turned to the dark side to try and save Padme (Padme is anakin's wife) from Death

not sure if you would call it that but at the end he killed the Emperor to protect his son. In the end, Darth Vader\Anakin Skywalker fulfilled the prophecy
It is in fact Anakin Skywalker (Luke's father) who turns into Darth Vader. Anakin begins his turn to the darkside when he finds that his mother has been killed and he takes revenge on those who murdered her. Anakin's conversion to the darkside is completed when the emperor tells Anakin that he has killed the woman he loves (Padmé) and Anakin is consumed by guilt and anger.
I'm going to assume that by "Star Wars" you mean the movies. Anyways, the underlying "objective"--the main point, if you will--is the power of redemption. Anakin Skywalker was long vaunted as "the Chosen One" who would "bring balance to the Force" by destroying the evil Sith. When he turned to the dark side, nearly all rejected that notion--after all, how could he destroy what he was a part of? Yet Luke Skywalker, wielding the power of good, managed to turn Vader back to the light; filled with remorse, the former minion of the dark killed his Master, Palpatine. The enraged Palpatine turned his anger on Vader, mortally wounding him, yet that didn't matter anymore. Vader was beyond caring. A small part of his soul, buried deep within layers of anger, hatred, and dark side energy, had been reawakened. So he died a Jedi, not a Sith; as Anakin Skywalker, not Darth Vader. The prophecy had been fulfilled.
If the prophecy wasn't misread, the "Chosen One" should be Anakin Skywalker, due to the fact he has more "midoclorians" than Master Windu Master Yoda, known to be one of the most powerful Jedi ever! Though it is unclear, because due to "The Tragedy of Darth Plagious the Wise" He could have been created by Palpatine's Master.

Luke's son, Ben Skywalker, did not turn to the dark side. Despite the fact he and Luke's wife Mara Jade are not in the films, they appear in the novels and graphic novels that fill the timeline after "Return of the Jedi."
