Why have different understandings of the past caused conflict in Canada today and how could this have been prevented?

Conflict in Canada is mostly restricted to debates and heated arguments so are not much of a real problem.
Canada is a confederation of many different Nations, each with many different cultures and each with their own history. So it is expected that they wll have different understanding of the past.
The conflict comes from the inequities of treatment in todays Confederation.. For example most Canadians live in Ontario and West of Ontario than live in Ontario and East of Ontario. But the East have more representation in the Canadian political systsem and the Federal government spends more money on the East than the West. The West pays more and gets less.
If Confederation had each Nation get as much from Confederation as they give todays conflicts would not exist.
