Why in stand by you does gordie see the deer and not tell the other boys about it?

Because it's not really a big deal, just him looking at nature and having a moment all to himself. Since none of the other boys saw it, he figured that the forest was showing something just to him.
Plus he was molested by his uncle from the start of the story and doesn't talk much anyways.

The grunts sound a lot like pigs. I was in a tree stand at night just listening- there were approximately 20 deer around the stand. It sounded like a pig pen. A large buck came in and gave two long deep grunts and the group ran for cover.
