At the end, Dally is unable to comprehend the fact that Johnny is really dead. He goes on an emotional ride. First in the store where he robs the guy and starts running. He then calls Darry for help, but as he is running to them the police catch him. Darry pulls out a gun and the police shoot him until he stopped moving in front of the gang. His last words were Ponyboy.
