Most likely, the outside temp is very high. Heatpumps sometimes are not good at making the inside temp much more than about 20 degrees cooler than outside temp, especially some older units. If you have a newer unit and good insulation, then you may have a bad (or inaccurate) thermostat. Make sure that the unit is blowing cool air, otherwise, call a professional.
