South Africa doesn't appear to have any enemies outside its own borders. During Apartheid, the oppressed and marginalized black South Africans weren't happy with the white government.

South Africa, like Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and a few others, practices non-aggression and generally minds its own business.

South Africa is simply a good neighbour. It tries hard to not interfere in the affairs of any other states, except through approved processes and properly recognised international bodies like the African Union and the United Nations.

It is also a member of the non-aligned movement, which represents countries that do not take sides in the big power struggles between the USA and other major powers.

This procedural correctness and neutrality wins the respect of other nations.
