If a 1996 vehicle with a 4.9-liter engine suddenly stops running while driving, it could be due to several issues, such as fuel delivery problems (e.g., clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump), ignition system failures (e.g., faulty spark plugs or ignition coil), or electrical issues (e.g., a dead battery or alternator failure). Additionally, overheating due to a cooling system failure could cause the engine to stall. Regular maintenance and diagnostics can help identify the specific cause.

I've had this problem recently. You need to replace your daytime running lights module. it should be located on the drivers side of the car in just in front of the front tire (it is where it is on the '92)
Just seven (7) miles.
They think he is wise and knows all the answers. But he really just felt like running.
could be the fuel pump
I didn't realize it was posting the question, I thought it was searching the database.I was driving along and my 98 Chevy Tahoe just quite. I assume it is the fuel pump and was looking for related discussions.
Could be many reasons but fuel pump failure is possible.
A PLUGGED CAT. CONVERTER
No gas. Low fuel pressure from fuel pump. dirty fuel filter. any other symptoms you know besides just stop running while driving IE over heating running rough.
I have a 1996 GMC Yukon and this happened to me. I would be driving on the highway and all of a sudden the engine would shut off. The fuel filter and then the fuel pump turned out to be my problem.
Sounds like ignition switch
I just had mine fixed and it was the electrical connection to the fan switch. It COULD be something as simple as a fuel filter.
Because it is so old it needs scrapping.
You can go to the DMV and request it, it should be free. Just bring along your driver's license.
