Extreme cold could damage the screen, also taking something electronic from a cold place and putting it in a warm place, then turning it on can sometimes fry circuits due to condensation inside the machine on the boards. When you take it out of the cold be sure to let it set for an hour or so just to get the whole thing room temp before turning it on.

LCD market share?

It was predicted that by 2010 50% of TV sales will be LCD TVs.

Is it possible to connect a TV tuner card to be used for CRT monitor to LCD monitor?

Yes. As long as the output is VGA. There is no difference in the standard between CRT and LCD.

What is the function of horizontal IC of television?

The horizontal IC, controls the frequency and timing of the horizontal lines of a Cathode Ray Tube TV. It makes a sawtooth waveform, which is applied to the horizontal deflection coils at the neck of the tube. So that the line starts at the right time, sync pulses keep everything in step, so that the picture is centralized. Digital TV's that use flat panel LCD/plasma/oled, do not need to do this, as the pixels are addressed digitally and directly.

Why would you prefer a flat 100Hz TV over an older version?

A 100Hz TV has a faster refresh rate than e.g. a 60Hz or 50Hz. This means that the picture is updated more frequently and is therefore clearer. "a flat 100Hz": There are 2 types of "flat" TV's. One is the flat panel TV (e.g. an LCD or plasma) and it's only about 4-6" thick. The obvious advantage of that kind of TV is that you don't need a "place" for it, you can just hang it on your wall. The other kind is a normal TV, but with a flat screen. The advantage of a flat screen is that there is less chance of surrounding light interfering with the picture, i.e. the only light that is reflected off the screen is the light positioned directly in front of the TV. Now it's up to you to decide if the advantages are sufficient to invest in a new TV.

Can cold weather affect LCD TV?

Particularly cold temperatures can affect both cold cathode back lighting as well as the speed at which the crystals can change state. However, both of them will correct themselves once the television has reached a normal internal temperature. Electronics are generally much better able to handle cold temperatures than we are so the viewers will be affect by the cold sooner than a television will be damaged.

Will cold temperatures damage led tv?

Cold temperatures can sometimes affect the operating speed of the liquid crystals but they won't damage the television. Within a few minutes the temperature will rise to a normal operating temperature. Generally, viewers will suffer from cold temperatures a long time before the television suffers from the cold.

Does cold air harm a flat screen tv?

Yes

Are flat screen TV's affected by freezing temperatures?

Most televisions can operate at temperatures below freezing but it depends on the model. Most manuals will show the maximum and minimum operating temperature and storage temperature. LCD screens may take a little more time to reach full brightness as the fluorescent back lighting can be affected by cold temperatures. In general, the viewer will be affected by cold temperatures way before the television. Cold environments are often damp environments. Moisture within a television may have a more significant effect on a television than the temperature. Moving a television from a very cold storage area to a warm room is likely to cause condensation on and in the television so it is always wise to let any electronic equipment reach room temperature and evaporate the condensation before turning it on.

Will a lcd screen freeze in cold weather?

Very cold temperatures can damage an LCD TV.The "L" in "LCD" stands for liquid, and although the liquid crystal material freezes at a much lower temperature than water, it can still freeze and damage the panel. My LG 32LE5400 LED LCD manual specifies an operating temperature range between 32 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit and a storage temperature range between -4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. I use it on my covered patio and in the unlikely event that temperatures in Orlando dip below 0 I'm moving the TV inside. Check the product specifications in your TV's manual to determine what's safe.I've read that LCD switching slows as temperature drops; if so, this would result in blurred motion. I've also read that operating LCD TVs at temperatures below the lower operating temperature limit can result in permanent damage to the display. Don't know that this is true from personal experience but given the price of these TVs I personally intend to err on the side of caution.Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Can_cold_weather_affect_LCD_TV#ixzz19Lq9yIQP

Can cold weather effect an led TV?

Operating and Storage TemperaturesLED TVs -- which, remember, are actually LCD screens [back or edge lit by LEDs] -- have a broad operating temperature range. For example, Samsung advertises an operating range between 50 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit for all its LCD screens, including those with LED backlights. LG advertises a similar range of 50 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The storage temperature range is even wider. While a Samsung LED TV may not operate well in temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, they can be safely stored in temperatures as cold as -4 degrees and as high as 113 degrees Fahrenheit. This answer is from eHow.com

What are LCD led tv's?

Conventional LCD televisions have used cold cathode tubes to illuminate the screen. They are a form of fluorescent lamp. LED televisions are also LCD but use LED as the light source rather than cold cathode tubes. The display technology remains identical with only the backlighting being different. LED backlit televisions use less power for the illumination than cold cathode and tend to run cooler as a result. Note that in 2012 OLED televisions are due to make an appearance. Unlike LCD LED, these use tiny LEDs that are turned on and off to create the image directly. They avoid the use of liquid crystal shutters and are set to deliver extremely thin and lightweight televisions. These are a very different technology to LCD but are thought to be the future standard for televisions.

Can you safely store a LCD TV in a very cold climate for a long period of time?

LCD. Liquid Crystal Display. So if your storing it below freezing then no it will not survive. Actually LCD's arent a liquid, its a crystal display that due the way it reacts to electric fields acts like liquid. Lcd's will not freeze, the only thing is until warmed up they will have slow performance. LCD's are left outside in numerous places, car navigation screens, amusement parks, even snowmobile tachometers now use lcd displays. An LCD will be fine stored in cold, just let it warm up before using and make sure the place your storing it is dry, humidity is what will kill your electronics not cold. Now Plasma displays are a different story DO NOT let them freeze.

Is led tv panel is actually an lcd tv What are the major differences between LCD and LED TV Does panel remain same in both?

Those panels are same. LED & LCD TV have IPS or VA panel. Even Samsung used VA. But IPS panel can resolve the problem of wave and multicolor spot. Major different things are backlight which LCD TV has CCLF (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) from back side and LED TV has the emitting diodes from back side. That's why, LED much slimer than LCD TV.
