Well in my point of veiw, yes. He used to abuse them. Yes. Michael talks in an interview with Martin Bashair saying that his father used to whip him and his brothers with an ironing cord, a switch, a belt what ever he could find if they made a mistake while performing. He also used to enjoy teasing Michael about his skin and his nose which lead to him feeling ugly and hating what he saw in the mirror for a lot of his adult life.
Yes, Michael Jackson was tutored as a child star on the road. In his adult life he was quite well read and kept up on current events. He had extensive knowlege in art history. He was an intelligent person but did only hold a GED, I believe from private tutoring.

During his life and career Michael broke many racial barriers.
No they are completely different, Moonwalk was written by Michael and is mostly about his career with a bit about his personal life, The Magic and the Madness is by J. Randy Taraborrelli and is mostly about his personal life (marriages, legal troubles) and the highlights of his career, the most recent copy covers his entire life (birth to death).
