Short answer: no. Since police and sheriff departments function as highly professional public protectors, a very neat and conservatice appearance just comes with the territory. A policeman with long hair in uniform just wouldn't be seen as a mature professional. A police career is one of sacrifice and public service. Wanting to keep your long hair would be self-centered, so that a Police Chief would not want you on his team.
