If you mean the Supernova synthesizer from the company Novation, then, YES! By definition, a midi guitar has either no, or very limited sound generation capabilities of its own and actually needs a MIDI device (such as a synth like the Supernova) to produce the actual sound. The Supernova is a MIDI synthesizer, and a darn good one! Basically your midi guitar will send midi "messages" to the SuperNova which will produce the sound (assuming of course that you have it hooked up to an amplifier, your PC soundcard w/speakers, or headphones, etc). Good luck!

Is there any program that can convert audio to MIDI?

If you mean just popping in a CD and getting MIDI out of it, no. But if you have a separate multitracks of music, you can use Drumagog or Slate Trigger to make drums to MIDI and Melodyne or Autotune to make monophonic melodic instruments like bass guitar or vocals to MIDI. But for chords? You are pretty much out of luck.

A M.I.D.I. instrument is an instrument that is compatible with the Musical Instrument Digital Interface (M.I.D.I.). This technology allows an instrument to talk to another instrument digitally. The MIDI interface has been around for many years and has served musicians well despite its limitations. In recent years, USB has been used in preference to MIDI because of the far higher data rate available compared to MIDI.
