Yes, I believe Sarah Vaughan recorded a song called 'Time' between 1952 and 1954. I remember hearing it several times on Top Forty radio in that time period and I am certain it was before Fall 1955. This was not a live recording but rather a typical approx. 2-minute-long 'Hit-Parade' type of song. I recall there was a sound like a ticking clock at the beginning and at the end of the song.
I've searched for that rendition but have not found it. I know of two renditions of 'Time' by Sarah Vaughan: The first is a 3:05 minute-long live recording and the second, also a live recording, lasts 5:16 minutes and has the song "Tenderly' added near the end.
Note (07-03-09): Time and Linger Awhile were released by Columbia both as a 78 rpm record and a 45 rpm record. Columbia 40041 (January 5, 1953). Sarah studio-recorded both songs with Percy Faith and His Orchestra. Time was charted by Cash Box at Number 43 for the Week Ending October 24, 1953. The music is available on the internet if you Google the artist, label and record number.
