The headlight assembly is held in with four bolts: two on the top, one underneath, and one that connects the headlight assy to the turn signal assy. The frame can be removed from the headlight by carefully prying at the adjustment pins. Complete information is on page 351-3 of the Official Saab 900 Manual by Robert Bentley Publishing, which every Saab owner should own.

∙ 16y agoTo replace the headlamp on a Saab 9-3, open the hood. Behind the headlamp there is a round black plastic cover; screw clockwise and pull back; there is a metal clip holding headlamp in place (9003 i believe is the halogen number). locate top of clip and move very slightly clockwise; the top will pivot down on a hinge; release the wire harness and pull out bulb. Retrace these steps to introduce the new bulb to your Saab. The classic 900s (pre-86) you have to pull the faccia off the front and unscrew the bulb (large size) but the 9000 (86-92) are very similar to replacement on the 9-3.

Ignore that previous answer, he probably thought of removing the clear lens from the black housing... Yes, you can replace the headlight cover. The assembly is just pushed into three ball snaps. First from the engine compartment unscrew the bulb and pull it out, second with two thin pry bars lightly pop out the assembly, it its only as big as the lens squared, They can be purchased as a new headlight assembly (which is just the one lens with the black plastic inner shroud the bulb screws into.) Once you have it out it will appear so simple and just snap back into place the new one and screw in the bulb. I bought two new ones on EBay for $20.

Pop hood. There is a torx head visible from the top at the edge of the fender--believe its like a T-20 or T-25. The second one is a bit more difficult---gonna have to slide the torx head screwdriver between the marker (side) lens and the turn signal at the front of the vehicle. There is another torx screw, same size, in there. once removed, just pull out the lens. Install is reverse.

You'll see that it is simply mounted on 3 metal ball tipped shafts that press into the plastic housing.
