Let the car idle and come up to temperature, probably takes 15 minutes or so. Watch the gauge in the event the fans aren't working. When the temp reaches a certain point the fans will automaticaaly turn on, you should be able to see and hear them. pukenstein@aol.com
A lack of water in your cooling system will cause your 2002 Pontiac Sunfire to overheat. A malfunctioning thermostat can also cause it to overheat.
4.7L it is under the housing where the lower radiator hose hooks to the engine. All other engines in 2000, under the housing where the upper radiator hose hooks.
it tells the radiator fan when to turn on
I have a 2000 model kia sportage. Recently the automatic door locks, rear window wiper, and all of the electric windows just stopped working? Also at the same time the engine light came on, I had it check by an advanced auto computer check and they said it said heat sensor. What is this and does it have anything to do with the other problems? diana.3310@hotmail.com
There could be several reasons, Radiator, Hoses, Head cylinder Waterpump. One of the common problems found with some of the newer 4.0s is the ones with the head casting of 0331. They are known to crack in the middle of the head under the oil filler cap. Check to see if you have any water in the oil. It could be a very small amount, as I dont know how much coolant your loosing. Check for leaks under the Jeep, where they are can also help to find out where the leak is comming from. One of the best ways to help find a leak is to do a pressure check on the radiator and watch for leaking. I hope this helps you out.
its on the bottom side of the radiator with a white plug.
it is at the bottom driverside of the rad, and its a hex nut
Check your fuses.
Remove the radiator cap and add it directly to the radiator. Then fill the overflow reservoir to the full mark.
Follow the top radiator hose from the Radiator to the engine. The thermostat is locataed under the housing that bolts onto the engine
check the owners manual for cooling system capacity.
Check that the coolant fans are still working, then check out the water pump.
Check that the pollen filter has been replaced. Check that the heater fan hasn't seized due to water logging after pollen filter becomes blocked. Check resistor is working (next to heater fan on firewall) Check relay is working correctly.
Lack of coolant in the radiator. Fan not working. Not enough oil.
Is your fan coming on?
There is a screw that you loosen on the driver side on the inside (towards the engine) that you turn to drain the radiator. WE didn't think there was one but then we found it.
It has one. Look around some more.Answerlittle plastic screw on the bottom drivers side of the radiator, Philips or hand tighten will work
