WHY would the doors of a 2000 Kia Sportage automatically lock and the windows not work?

I have a 2000 model Kia Sportage. Recently the automatic door locks, rear window wiper, and all of the electric windows just stopped working?
Also at the same time the engine light came on, I had it check by an advanced auto computer check and they said it said heat sensor. What is this and does it have anything to do with the other problems?

When I replaced the battery on my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee it would not start up. I got it to work by locking all doors and then unlocking the doors. After doing this it would crank up. Hope this helps. Additional Info: Exactly. When you disconnect or change the battery the factory alarm engages and activates the engine kill switch. Just reconnect the battery and lock and unlock the doors with your key to reset it.
