1)Open iTunes
2)Go to "Edit"
3)Preference
4)ADVANCE
5)and UNCHECK THE BOX that says "Copy Music Files to Itunes Folder when adding to Librabry"
What ends up happening is that Most likely your Files our from another source like your CD's, lime wire. so the files are saved onto 1 folder,so when you add them to itunes "itunes" make a separate copy of the file, and adding it to the "itune Music" folder, thus you end up with 2 copys of the same song. You can Just uncheck that property, and it won't make a separate copy.
Alternately, if you're dealing with more copies, it might be Itunes trying to organize your music files. It makes three copies to organize itself better (although I've noticed no difference not having the extra copies.) You can prevent this by opening Itunes:
Go to Edit
Preferences
Advanced
Uncheck the box that says "Keep Itunes music folder organized."
Although this will be a moot point if you do not want Itunes to copy your files in the first place, as shown above.
you go the download & click it. then press the "delete" button.

When navigating through your library in iTunes, select the song you wish to remove and press your keyboard's "Delete" key, or right click it and click "Delete." It will ask you to remove it from your library or from your computer entirely; The former case will allow you to keep your song but not have it accessible in your iTunes library until you choose to import it again, and the latter case will erase it completely. If you want to remove a song that is already removed from your library but want to permanently erase it, find your iTunes music folder (Often in your unique user folder, under "My Music" or "Music") and find the folder with the song's artist's name as it's title. Go inside and manually delete the song you'd like to remove.
General way is selecting menu File -> Display Duplicates to list out all duplicated tracks, and remove them from iTunes, BUT this will not delete the file actually. To delete the files as well as removing them from iTunes library, you need to do it manually or use other apps like iTunes Duplicates Cleaner.
there's an option that asks you to show duplicates (view->show duplicates) then delete the duplicate (just dont be an idiot and delete the one you want to keep. mite also help to delete it off your music folder as well...
# Open iTunes # View -> Show Duplicates # Delete one of each duplicate copy (ie. do not delete every song there - only delete the relevant amount so that you are left with one of each song). To delete a song, click on it and press the backspace key, or right click and choose "Delete"

In Itunes itself, just press the delete key. If you want to delete from the iPod itself, call up the contents when it is plugged in, highlight (by clicking) what you want to delete, then press the delete key. Alternatively, just delete it from Itunes then sync your iPod - it will cope exactly what is in iTunes.
