I would advise that you start collecting CDs of Russian music, and listen to them, and perhaps the song that you are looking for will happen to appear on one of them and you will recognize it and shout aha! They're playing my song! Theodore Bikel is a wonderful performer of Russian Folk Music, but unfortunately his work is not out on CD, only on vinyl record albums. The Red Army Choir, back in the days of the USSR, recorded some lovely choral music as well. These things can be found on the internet.

You would be surprised by what you can 'google' and actually find. If you know some of the lyrics and you're sure you have them accurately, enter them. It can be a large chunk of the lyrics, part of a line or a few words. You may go straight to the song.
