The radios should have the same clips. Take it out of the dash, unplug it and reverse the removal process.
the clips in dash of car were cut off and missing...that is the problem.. Thx m.Bower for trying! Greg
Some people are naturals at figuring out what wire does what. I on the other hand am not. I had to install a single din radio in my 89 Dakota so I bought a wiring kit. Found at your local auto parts store. It came with the 2 plugs that are required for the double din radios that are original equipment. There is a diagram that comes with these that tells you what color wire is for what and if you can set down with the radio out of the dash somewhere that you can see everything and use solder and heat shrink to attach the new plugs then you can just plug it up to the original equipment plugs in the truck. If there has all ready been a different radio installed and the plugs are not there then I would suggest finding a friend that has done the cut and splice before.
I have mine under my seat and just ran wires from the fuse box. If you want it in the dash, you must order a special replacement radio (cost about $400.00 last time I found one) that will fit or cut the dash. I wouldn't cut the dash, it lowers the value of your car.

took 89 years!
Yes, under the dash
THE RADIO CIRCUITRY OFTEN FAILS IN THE 88, AND 89 CARS. USUALLY FROM TOO MUCH HEAT BUILDUP. FEEL THE RADIO WHEN IT STOPS WORKING, ITS USUALLY MUCH WARMER THAN THE SURROUNDING PARTS. IN SHORT, YOU MOST LIKELY NEED TO REPLACE THE RADIO. I HAD 3 TOWNCARS, 88 SIG. SERIES, CARTIER AND AN 89 SIGNATURE SERIES, ALL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIO. I OPTED TO GO TO A SALVAGE YARD RATHER THAN TRYING TO PUT IN A RADIO THAT HAD TO BE MODIFIED.
if the fuse is good, make sure the connections to the starter are nice and tight and corrosion free
Every wire behind the radio is seperately labeled as to where it goes.
ATF? a/c? brake? engine oil? windshield washer?
Dodge does not use inertia/reset switches. The fuel system is computer controlled with relays.
Certainly. If the 89 originally had the same engine/transmission combo it should be a simple (relatively speaking) job.
what type of auto transmission is in a 89 dodge dakota 3.9
WHAT ARE"89-NISSAN MAXIMA RADIO WIRE COLOR CODES
I am not sure of how to instal a rear main seal on '89 dodge D100 with a v6.
Dodge doesn't use inertia switches.
Remove the trim plate from the shifter. Remove the instrument/radio trim plate. Remove the right side console extension panel. Remove the heater duct. Reach behind the radio and remove the antenna lead. Remove the radio retaining screws. Pull the radio out and disconnect the electrical connectors. To install the CD player you will to buy an installation kit for a'89 Grand Am (it will have all the parts to mount the CD player and instructions how to install it)
